Summary: The cabin was very well suited for me and my 4 daughters , aged 17-28 … we had a great time weather was great, fishing was great , kayaking was awesome …. The couple renting the cottage next to us were great neighbors . The kitchen offered everything I needed to prepare breakfast and dinner ( all but food and condiments ) there was nothing that the kitchen was lacking for the prep and cooking , there was even an electric griddle for pancakes in the morning . We split our time up hanging out on the deck or down by the water both places offered us endless pleasurable memories and lots of laughing . Joe was present everyday , I know this because the garbage was removed from the cans everyday , well run rental … I give you 5 stars … Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your rental …

Summary: We rented both of the cottages together, and got exactly what we wanted. My wife, our two girls (ages 2 ½ and 5 ½ yrs), and I stayed in the big cottage while Nana stayed in the adjacent studio. Occasionally "rustic" can be code for a bit dingy. That is not the case here! The cottages were well kept, tidy, and very clean. The updated kitchens were great, though we cooked most of our meals on the grill. The location had a lot of advantages - it was a easy walk across the bridge to get groceries, coffee & pastries in the morning, or dinner at the Adirondack Hotel. Additionally, it was less than a 5 minute paddle across the lake from the canoe / kayak rental shop. There is a bit of traffic on the lake in front of the cottage, but it was not a problem -- kids were easily paddle boarding and kayaking all around. Plus, the girls loved watching the float planes take off and land. Overall, the properties were great, Joe was responsive and easily available, and it suited our needs perfectly. We recommend it.

Summary: Two weeks was not enough time! Cabins are close to everything -- kayaking, swimming, hiking, biking and visiting all the Adirondacks have to offer. Joe and Cheryl were quick with anything we needed, and are excellent hosts. The cabins were clean and as described. Will go back for sure!!

Summary: The place is rustic as listed however the stairs down to the lake are treacherous. My brother in-law fell through a rotted step and grabbed the railing which also broke off. He cut up his leg and was very lucky that he didn't fall off the steps. Joe did a repair the next morning but he needs to fix the entire stairway since it is unsafe for renters. Also, be careful to take pictures of the place upon arrival and departure as Joe charged both of our groups (we rented both cottages) for a brass ball that fell off his old bed, a nightlight which we never saw or used, a pillow which we didn't take, and towels which we left either on the bathroom floor or folded in his closet. Long lake is our favorite summer vacation spot in NY but we won't be renting this place again. When we were leaving Joe said thanks for leaving the place so clean! We pride ourselves on being responsible renters and always treat the owner's property like it is our own.

Summary: The Big Cottage is gorgeous, all knotty pine walls and ceiling and some floors. The screened in porch that runs the width of the cottage has wonderful windows that open completely, letting in lots of fresh air. It's a great place to read and to eat meals. Nice view of the lake. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen is amazing - anything that you think you might need is there - corkscrew, huge assortment of kitchen knives, lots of pans, including a cast-iron frying pan, baking pans, loads of glasses and dishes, herbs and spices, cutting boards, you name it! We do a lot of cooking, and most of the time we have to bring a lot of cooking equipment with us - not this time! Living room is comfortable and the as fireplace is wonderful, especially on cool nights. There are many steps to the dock and some difficulty climbing onto the various docks, but once you get there, it is a lovely view of the lake in both directions. Very quiet neighborhood. The one thing that was difficult is that there was really no place from which to launch our kayak. The shore is rocky. Perhaps if we had been more agile we could have done it, but there is no beach to speak of. Joe and Cheryl were hospitable and ready to provide anything that we needed. We recommend the Big Cottage to anyone who wants a peaceful and beautiful place on Long Lake.

Summary: The cabin by the lake was perfect in every way. The deck has a beautiful view overlooking the lake which was great for evening cookouts. The dock right on the lake was a spectacular base to swim, sunbathe, kayak, and watch the 4th of July fireworks. The house is very cozy and clean! We will definitely be returning!
